What to Expect
The counselling relationship is different to any other type of relationship where two people share a very special journey which can prove therapeutic and empowering. Along the way it can unleash many different feelings, from tears of sadness to tears of laughter - it can be tiring and painful but it can be refreshing and positive bringing about the changes you are seeking.
Whatever you bring to the sessions your concerns will be acknowledged and you will be received with warmth and honesty. Our way of working will be tailored to suit your individual needs in a way that is comfortable for you. I will not give you advice or judge you and I will always be respectful and sensitive to your beliefs, differences and experiences.
Whether you have had counselling before or this is a new experience for you, if you feel you need to talk please contact me and make that first appointment and maybe we can start your journey together.
Sessions are usually once a week (but can be fortnightly) for sixty minutes and a contract is agreed at the beginning but the amount of sessions is dependent upon you and your requirements which we will discuss regularly. Whether you need two sessons or twelve sessions it is your decision.
Commitment to the process and regular attendance to the sessions is an important part of the process in which the trusting relationship between counsellor and client develops.
